CreaTures – Creative Practices for Transformational Futures was an EU Horizon 2020 research project investigating the transformative potential of creative practices in art, design, and related cultural fields. The project responded to current social and environmental challenges and proposed how creative practice can help nurture more resilient and respectful ways of planetary co-existence.
The project involved four interrelated components, including the Observatory identifying and mapping existing, fragmented and often hidden transformational creative practices; the Laboratory mounting several different scales and types of creative arts production; the Evaluation segment testing new and existing creative practices for their impact; and a series of Engagement events enabling broad access to the evolving project outcomes.
The CreaTures Framework emerging as one of the key results of our co-creative work (2020-2022) sets out how creative practices can stimulate action towards eco-socially sustainable futures.
As a CreaTures research fellow, I led and co-curated the CreaTures Laboratory, and took care of the project's Ethics package and related EU requirements. As a practitioner, I contributed to the Laboratory with 2 co-authored projects: the Open Forest and the Experimental Food Design for Sustainable Futures. I also co-curated and organised several engagement events including the CreaTures Festival in Sevilla , the project's participation at the Helsinki Design Week 2022 and at the Uroboros 2021 + 2022 festival. Besides practice-based contributions, I participated in data collection and evaluation related to other artistic projects and processes developed within CreaTures.
